The Carl McCain Memorial Foundation

community mccainEstablished in 1979, the Carl McCain Memorial Foundation was named in memory of Carl McCain of Shreveport, Louisiana. Carl was part of the domestic crude oil trading business for many years and was admired and respected by those who were privileged to know him. He died in 1979 after an extended bout with cancer. Carl McCain's illness and his concern for the welfare of his granddaughter, who was born severely handicapped during his last days, were the inspiration of the establishment of the Foundation.

The Carl McCain Memorial Foundation makes financial grants to or on behalf of individuals and families who work or have worked in the energy industry and who are financially overburdened for medically related reasons, as well as to the medical rehabilitation institutions. In years past, this foundation has been highly instrumental in providing assistance to many families in need.  To date the Foundation has made grants in excess of $4.5 million.

Funding for the Foundation comes from corporate and individual donations, through participation in industry golf tournaments as well as an annual Chili/Fajita Cook-Off. Each year numerous companies in the energy industry gather to sustain this worthy purpose. Citation and CCMI's participation enables employees and co-workers to demonstrate their talents while donating their time and resources to such a noteworthy cause. Citation's continued support further provides a venue for decision makers to gather with respective counterparts in social settings and discuss current energy industry events, market strategies, energy issues etc.

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ was organized for charitable, educational and scientific purposes to encourage and promote the breeding, raising and marketing of better livestock and farm products at public fairs and to promote and maintain research and educational functions with the livestock industry. It is the general policy of the Show to utilize, in the fiscal year subsequent to which it is earned, the excess of its revenue over expenses for the furtherance of its exempt purpose, including and/or funding of agricultural scholarships, educational endowments, agricultural research projects and other similar programs and the funding of related capital additions and improvements. Over the past half century, the Show has provided over $100 million in programs and scholarships to students in the greater Houston area. Several employees of Citation have volunteered their time and services to support the many committees that make up the show. These committee members strive to award and recognize our youth in organizations such as 4-H, FFA, FCCLA, the RITE Program, School Art Program and many others.
